ivoh Mindful Media Summit inspires artistic representation of Restorative Narratives
Paintings, photos and a sculpture by Santiago Navila were on display at ivoh’s summit.
During our annual Mindful Media Summit, we focused on Restorative Narratives — stories that show how people and communities are learning to rebuild and recover in the aftermath, or midst of, difficult times.
We looked at examples of Restorative Narratives from a variety of mediums — journalism, photography, film, art and more — and deepened our ongoing inquiry into this genre.
Inspired by the summit discussions about Restorative Narratives, creative producer Santiago Navila created an artistic centerpiece that reflected the Restorative Narrative theme.
In this short video — created by ivoh award winner Erin Turney — Navila explains his thinking behind the art:
In addition to displaying art at the summit, we explored how Restorative Narratives relate to the arts during a panel with artists Wilber Blair and Paula Crawford and singer/songwriter Morley Kamen. The panel, which ivoh core team member Lois Fiore helped organize, was moderated by ivoh board members Ann DeMarle and John Yearwood.
