‘Storytelling to Change the World’: A conversation on how media can transform communities
FIU digital media students gather stories for their documentary film on Liberty Square and its residents.
Images & Voices of Hope will be joining Florida International University for a one-day forum exploring how media can have a positive impact on communities, locally and globally. Students and faculty will join local media practitioners and community members to showcase multimedia work that is making a difference in our world.
We’ll explore various types of storytelling, including Restorative Narrative — a term ivoh coined to describe stories that show how people and communities are making a meaningful progression from a place of despair to a place of resilience.
The event — which is free and open to the public — will take place on Wednesday, October 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Florida International University’s Graham Center Ballrooms on the Modesto Maidique Campus.
