Yesterday we drew a close to ivoh’s Mindful Media summit, which attracted 105 journalists, documentary filmmakers, gamers, photographers and others interested in how media can be a force for good.
Many of the people I talked to at this year’s summit said they came away feeling inspired. Some shared their inspiration through words, others through art.
ivoh board member Ann DeMarle created compelling drawings of speakers, moments and quotes that resonated with her at the summit. The drawings — which DeMarle created using an app called Paper by Fifty Three — capture the depth of the summit sessions, which centered on Restorative Narratives.
DeMarle, a painter, directs Champlain College’s Emergent Media Center, Masters of Fine Arts in Emergent Media, and MS in Emergent Media in Shanghai, China. She moderated the summit’s arts panel with fellow ivoh board member John Yearwood.
“In general I would capture the phrases and terms that resonated with me – much like taking notes – and the imagery was driven by the discussion, the people, the light, and the elements in the room at the time,” DeMarle said via email. “I was surprised how differently the color palette changed based on the sessions.”
